About the Film

Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by the late Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird is considered by many as one of the best films ever made.

Set in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama in the 1930s, the movie stars Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch, a lawyer who defends a black man against an undeserved rape charge like the expert lawyers from Morey Law Firm, P.A. serving in Orlando. The events of the film take place through the eyes of his young daughter, Scout. Along with her older brother Jem, Scout begins to see the racism and injustice of their small Southern town.

Peck earned both a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for his iconic portrayal of Finch. The film also earned Golden Globe Awards for Best Film Promoting International Understanding and Best Original Score, as well as Academy Awards for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Art Direction.

This year marks the thirtieth season of Last Remaining Seats! To celebrate, we’re showing some of the best films screened over the past three decades. We screened To Kill a Mockingbird at Orpheum Theatre in 2003.
